I’ll include my notes from week 6 below. Let’s dig right in!
Quarterback:
- Sam Darnold (45% available) – I know they were on bye week, but good grief. Pick him up!
- Caleb Williams (50%) – The light switch flicked on a couple of weeks ago and Caleb has been playing great football.
- Tua Tagovailoa (74%) – he’ll be active soon and will get you plenty of touchdown passes.
- Drake Maye (96%) – I thought the first half was rough, but Maye wound up with 3 TD passes. He had a better overall debut than Caleb Williams did in my opinion.
- Joe Flacco (6.1%) – I don’t think the coaching staff has the guts to bench Anthony Richardson, so Flacco is only a plugin start. He might be back on the bench in week 7 depending on Richardson’s availability.
Running Back:
- Bucky Irving (32% available) – There is no reason Irving should be available in almost 1/3 of leagues out there.
- Tyler Allgeier (57%) – he is routinely out-rushing Bijan Robinson. It’s time to add him if you haven’t already.
- Tank Bigsby (56%) – Etienne will miss a few games. Let’s see what Tank can do as the unquestioned feature back.
- Alexander Mattison (65%) – he’s not the sexiest pickup in the world, but he is a serviceable back who can get you through injuries and bye weeks
- Braelon Allen (63%) – His availability actually increased this week. I’m writing this in advance of his MNF performance vs the Bills, but Allen is a guy I would key in on while the Jets transition their play calling to a new offensive coordinator.
- Keaton Mitchell (97%) – stash him on your injury slot if you have space. Mitchell should be back in a few weeks.
- Tyrone Tracy (55%) – He didn’t have an amazing performance vs the Bengals this week, but did find the end zone. He’s done enough to take carries away from Singeltary when he returns, but I think we’re looking more at a two-back committee here than a full takeover by Tracy.
- Jaylen Wright (91%) – Achane and Mostert should be back to full strength so I expect Jaylen Wright to take a back seat next week. But he’s only an injury away from making a massive impact. I think he’s better than Mostert already so monitor this situation.
- Sean Tucker (99%) – my eyes tell me that Tucker is more explosive than Rachaad Whtie and I always trust my eyes. I think we’re looking at a 3-back backfield in Tampa moving forward.
- Isaac Guerendo (99%) – I saw the statline, but I also watched the game. Guerendo wasn’t looking good and he actually got replaced. He eventually broke a huge run. Does that long run earn him more chances? Probably. But I expect Jordan Mason’s shoulder injury to be a temporary setback and of course, there’s always a looming return to the field for Christian McCaffrey. I’d add Guerendo in dynasty formats, but I’d prioritize other guys in one year leagues.
- Dameon Pierce (97%) – he had his best game since 2022 as the #2 running back. Pierce could have value in deep leagues.
- Audric Estime (99%) – Estime had 2 carries this week. Keep a close eye on the rookie back as he may be the best Denver has to offer in the backfield this season.
- Ty Chandler (67%) – I think Aaron Jones will miss a few games which makes Chandler a plug-and-play option for you.
Wide Receiver:
- Josh Downs (51% available) – If Flacco is throwing, then Downs is a must start. I’d probably make him a bench player when Richardson returns to the lineup for the Colts.
- Jalen Tolbert (60%) – I was disappointed in the Cowboys usage of Tolbert in a game where they needed to heavily pass.
- Christian Watson (55%) – I only consider Packer wide receivers when there are injuries. Watson and Wicks share targets, but when one is hurt (Wicks), the other usually flourishes.
- Alec Pierce (77%) – Pierce is the one pass catcher on the Colts roster that plays better with Richardson in the lineup.
- JuJu Smith-Schuster (83%) – He’s the only WR I’d trust week-to-week for the Chiefs.
- Xavier Legette (71%) – he seems to be more efficient by the week.
- Keon Coleman (48%) – He’s getting a lot of snaps and a fair amount of targets. I’m writing this in advance of the MNF game vs the Jets, but I like how Allen has been trying to involve Coleman a bit more in recent weeks.
- Rome Odunze (35%) – Caleb is looking better. Keenan Allen broke out this week. Is Odunze next?
- Noah Brown (99%) – he returned to the lineup and played exceptionally well. He didn’t find the end zone vs the Ravens, but the TDs will come in this offense.
- Jalen Coker (99%) – the undrafted rookie has climbed the depth chart and is starting. He’ll likely return to the bench once Thielen returns, but Coker will have an opportunity to make his mark in the NFL over the next couple of weeks.
- Tre Tucker (83%) – Once Adams gets traded, Tucker will get more targets.
- Allen Lazard (61%) – new play caller? No problem. Aaron Rodgers is still on the field and feeding Lazard red zone targets.
- Tutu Atwell (82%) – My best guess is that Atwell continues to play on the outside when Kupp returns to the field in the next week or two.
- Jordan Whittington (92%) – I love Whittington, but he’s probably going back to the bench with Kupp returning to action soon.
- Bub Means (100%) – I’m acknowledging him here if only to say, there are other guys I’d target. Means subbed in for Olave, but I think he’ll be back to the bench when Olave recovers from his concussion.
Tight End:
- Cole Kmet (45% available) – With TE play down throughout the league, everyone will be clamoring for Kmet. The Bears are using him more than the others (finally) and I think he/Caleb have a good thing going.
- Zach Ertz (47%) – he continues to rack up yardage and receptions. At some point, the TDs will follow.
- Cade Otton (76%) – He didn’t have many catches, but he was second on the team in targets. Baker is looking for Otton more than he did last season. Things are trending up for Otton this year.
- Taysom Hill (78% available) – he’s missed a couple of games, but he gets plenty of looks when he is in the lineup.
- Grant Calcaterra (100%) – he filled in for Goedert nicely and I think he’s a definite plug-and-play tight end while Goedert is out of the lineup.
- Ja’Tavion Sanders (99%) – I like that he outplayed Ian Thomas, who returned to the field. Tommy Tremble was out, so there’s still uncertainty whether Sanders can a) remain the unquestioned starter and b) produce enough if he is “the guy”. I am watching his development closely.
- Erick All Jr. (97%) – he’s now the top TE for Cincinnati. The problem is they aren’t involving him very much to this point. Still, All has done well as a rookie to ascend the depth chart and is in on the field for a team that has a strong passing attack.
Defense:
- Minnesota (39% available) – They’re matchup-proof and just went through the bye week. They can be started for the rest of the season.
- LA Chargers (61%) – They face off against the Cardinals in week 7 and I suspect we’ll see the Chargers generate a few turnovers
- Chicago (45%) – They’re on a bye week in week 7, but as I said with Minnesota last week, I think Chicago is worth stashing on your roster if they become available
- Green Bay (66%) – I love the defense, but I hate their matchup vs the Texans in week 7.
- Indianapolis (73%) – they are playing the Dolphins in week 7 and Tua will not be in the lineup.
