Waiver Wire Targets For Week 9 – 2024 Waiver Wire Targets

Waiver Wire Targets For Week 8 – 2024 Waiver Wire Targets

I hope you were able to grab Cedric Tillman after the waiver column last week, but if not you still have a chance.

Quarterback:

  1. Jared Goff (47% available) – Sometimes the Lions beat up on teams so badly that he only has to throw 15 times a game.  But the Lions are on fire and your roster can use the touchdowns.
  2. Tua Tagovailoa (52%) – he wasn’t bad, but I think the Dolphins were a bit rusty together.  Things should begin to open up from here.
  3. Joe Flacco (98%) – it looks like Anthony Richardson could be benched this week.  Flacco played great for a couple of weeks and could fit right into your starting lineup.
  4. Drake Maye (87%) – He left the week 8 matchup with a concussion, but I love the way he’s throwing the ball and a capable runner.
  5. Sam Darnold (54%) – He’ll be even better with TJ Hockenson returning to the lineup.
  6. Jameis Winston (100%) – he’s boom or bust, but if you want to roll the dice in a given week, you could be well rewarded.
  7. Caleb Williams (45%) – I think he’s getting better, but the team’s play calling is miserable so he’s ranked a bit lower in the list.

Running Back:

  1. Tank Bigsby (32% available) – He should be gone in your league by now, but if not, scoop him up.
  2. Bucky Irving (32%) – I’d have him higher, but Rachaad White is still getting a lot of key touches.
  3. Alexander Mattison (46%) – The Chiefs shut him down, but Mattison is getting reliable work including goal line work.
  4. Tyrone Tracy (53%) – If Tracy receives the lion’s share of work compared to Singletary on MNF, then I would push Tracy ahead of Mattison.  We’ll see what happens tonight.
  5. Keaton Mitchell (97%) – he should take over Justice Hill’s role on the Ravens when he returns to action.
  6. Jaylen Wright (92%) – Wright is a distant third on the depth chart, but if Achane or Mostert goes down, Wright is an immediate starter for you.
  7. Tyler Allgeier (47%) – he’s finally firmly behind Bijan Robinson on the depth chart.
  8. Braelon Allen (75%) – like Allgeier, Allen’s ceiling will be limited due another RB (Breece Hall).

Wide Receiver:

  1. Cedric Tillman (84% available) – If you didn’t grab him last week, you should make him your top claim this week.
  2. Keon Coleman (42%) – Coleman looks like he’s starting to break out.  He’s a force in the red zone and what I like most is that Allen throws to him when he’s in a pinch (like he did with Diggs in recent years).  The Bills will continue to distribute the ball across their skill players, but I think Coleman will continue to improve the rest of the way.
  3. Josh Downs (52%) – I’m ranking Downs higher on this list assuming that Flacco will be starting going forward.
  4. Jauan Jennings (33%) – he didn’t play last week, but he should be a strong player moving forward.
  5. Michael Wilson (88%) – he’s playing well and scoring TDs for the Cards.  Opposing defenses are trying to stop Marvin Harrison Jr. which opening opportunities for Wilson on the other side of the field.
  6. Xavier Legette (71%) – If/when Diontae Johnson gets traded, Legette should be the top WR in Carolina moving forward.
  7. Jalen Coker (100%) – Coker is playing well and will also benefit if Johnson is traded away.
  8. Ricky Pearsall (78%) – I think he’ll be the third WR, so even though I like how Pearsall is playing in his first couple of games, I still have Jennings ranked higher.

Tight End:

  1. Cade Otton (42% available) – Tampa’s offense looks good and with their top two WRs out, Otton is now the focal point of the attack.
  2. Zach Ertz (45%) – Ertz is playing exceptionally well for Washington.
  3. Hunter Henry (58%) – I think he’ll be a top TE moving forward
  4. Cole Kmet (38% available) – Kmet’s a strong player, but this Bears offensive structure doesn’t put their players in positions to succeed.  Kmet’s stats will be volatile between now and the end of the year.
  5. Will Dissly (1.4%) – he will only have value if Hurst is out of the lineup.  But if he is, Dissly is a starting caliber player.
  6. Jonnu Smith (93%) – He had more targets than I thought he would in Tua’s return.  Though they give backup Julian Hill a lot of red zone targets so Smithi’s upside will be limited.

Defense:

  1. LA Chargers (46%) – I like their matchup vs the Browns.  Jameis will serve up a few INT opportunities for the Chargers in week 9.
  2. Chicago (57%) – They match up vs the Cardinals in week 9.  They played a similar style QB in week 8 vs Washington.  The Cardinals are throwing shorter routes which will allow the Bears D to be more aggressive.
  3. Cleveland (54%) – They face off against the Chargers, who are struggling to put up points.
  4. New Orleans (62%) – they match up against a struggling Panthers team this week
