I’m monitoring the position battles below as part of the Free Fantasy Football Almanac updates. If you’ve purchased the book, follow the instructions to access these updates.

C.J. Uzomah vs Jeremy Ruckert vs Tyler Conklin
I said the same thing last year – this offense is begging for a quality TE. The scheme demands it and Zach Wilson could use a few easy completions per game. The Jets got nothing out of this position grouping in 2021 and it’s no surprise they’ve completely retooled heading into 2022. I see this really coming down to Uzomah vs Ruckert. Uzomah could flourish in this scheme, but will the rookie outplay him in camp?

Albert Okwuegbunam vs Greg Dulcich
Russell Wilson will find TEs on the goal line, so the winner of this battle will have weekly starting value for the Broncos. With Noah Fant included in the Wilson trade (and now in Seattle), the new coaching staff will be evaluating incumbant Albert Okwuegbunam and rookie Greg Dulcich.

Taysom Hill vs Adam Trautman
Before the Taysom Hill QB experiment, he was a productive situational player. He gives the offense versatility based on his ability to run, catch and yes, throw. I expect Hill to have much more fantasy value than Trautman this season now that Hill’s role is more defined.

Cameron Brate vs Cade Otton vs Ko Kleft
OK, the real battle here is whether or not the Bucs can convince Gronk to come out of retirement. Failing that, this is probably Cameron Brate’s job.
