I’m monitoring the position battles below as part of the Free Fantasy Football Almanac updates. If you’ve purchased the book, follow the instructions to access these updates.

Rondale Moore vs A.J. Green
When DeAndre Hopkins comes back from suspension, who will be the third WR? This situation will likely evolve through the early part of the regular season, but we’ll get our first clues during the preseason.

Danny Gray vs Jauan Jennings
Danny Gray really jumps off the screen. I’m particularly interested in his value in dynasty leagues. If Deebo Samuel leaves town, Gray could end up assuming Samuels’ responsibilities in the run and pass game. I’m very intrigued. Will he have value in 2022? Training camp will have a lot ot say about that.

Parris Campbell vs Alec Pierce
Parris Campbell’s injury issues have derailed his career. The Colts still like him, but they can’t have faith he will stay on the field. Alec Pierce will likely be the compliment to Pittman Jr. and the Colts have a QB that can get all receivers the ball. WR2 on the Colts will have solid value in 2022.

Skyy Moore vs MVS vs Mecole Hardman
JuJu Smith-Schuster’s role as the #1 receiver in this offense should be safe, but he’s not going to be getting the same types of routes Tyreek Hill got last year. Those will go to the winner of the speedy/shifty guys. That role will likely be divided among Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Skyy Moore and Mecole Hardman. Hardman hasn’t cashed in on his talent yet, so I struggle to recommend him. I’m eager to see how Moore looks in preseason action.

Kenny Golladay vs Sterling Shepard vs Kdarius Toney vs Darius Slayton vs Wan’Dale Robinson
Frankly, this could come down to whoever is healthiest. It looks to me like Shepard and Robinson will be battling for slot duties while the trio of Golladay, Slayton and Toney will battle for outside responsibilties. My early offseason guess is that Golladay, Slayton and Shepard will be the primary three, but there’s a lot of competition here.

Allen Lazard vs Sammy Watkins vs Christian Watson
My theory is that continuity will win out here and Allen Lazard will be the most targeted Packer WR in 2022. If we see Watson or Watkins dominating targets in preseason action, then things could easily shift their way. I’ll keep you updated.
