Waiver Wire Targets for Week 8 (2025 Fantasy Football)

Week 8 is in the books.  I hope you were able to grab Dylan Sampson last week because he’s going to be tough to acquire on the waiver cycle. As a reminder, I expect Quinshon Judkins, who recently signed, to supplant Jerome Ford.  Dylan Sampson will continue to be involved as a third down back and receiver.

Waiver Wire Strategy for Week 8

Top 5 Waiver Wire Targets – Week 8

Here are my Top fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 8

  1. RB, Kyle Monangai
  1. TE, Orande Gadsden III
  1. RB, TyJae Spears
  1. RB, Bam Knight
  1. TE, Mason Taylor

Waiver Wire Pickups by Position

Quarterbacks

  • Joe Flacco – this is by far the best receiving group he’s ever thrown to and he can throw deep.  There will be more games like we saw on Thursday night.
  • Jaxson Dart – I think he will get better as the season moves along
  • Sam Darnold – as long as JSN is healthy, Darnold will have strong production
  • Trevor Lawrence – his average isn’t bad.  I prefer not to start him, but you certainly can if you’re in a pinch.

Running Backs

  • Kyle Monangai: The Bears are going to be a run-first team moving forward and the rookie is looking strong.
  • Tyjae Spears – He may be the top back in Tennessee moving forward.
  • Bam Knight – He’s the Cardinals starter until Benson returns.
  • Tyler Allgeier – 32.9% – he gets the crumbs Bijan Robinson leaves behind, but those crumbs often include goal line opportunities.
  • Kareem Hunt – 34% rostered – Boring pick, but if you need an emergency back to plug in during bye weeks, Hunt won’t kill you.
  • Joe Mixon (if you have an IR spot to stash): The rest of the Texan running backs aren’t doing much.  If Mixon returns, he’ll be valuable.
  • Brashard Smith – don’t get too excited.  He saw most of his snaps and carries in garbage time last week.  But he looked good in the passing game prior to that happening.  I think the Chiefs are grooming him to be a 3rd down back.
  • Devin Neal – the Saints are without Kendre Miller moving forward.  I think Taysom Hill will see a lot of carries, but Neal could have his chance to shine this week.  Keep an eye on who they sign this week (or elevate from the practice squad)

Wide Receivers

  • Darnell Mooney – he’s back in action and he’s underrated.
  • Kendrick Bourne: he had a stinker of a game vs the Falcons, but I still think he’s a good target at WR
  • Romeo Doubs: Christian Watson is returning soon, but Doubs is just the most consistent Packer WR.  I think he’ll continue to gather 5ish catches a game.
  • Tez Johnson – Evans is out for the ret of the fantasy season (likely).  Johnson is the next man up in a quality passing offense.
  • Elic Ayomanor: tough game for Ayomanor last week.  I’m a bit concerned the coaching staff is straying away from teh rookie, but I’m leaving him on the lsit for now.
  • Jaylin Noel – nice stat line coming off a bye week for Noel.
  • Tory Horton: he’s one I’d want stashed on my roster to see what happens after their bye week (this week)
  • Kayshon Boutte: He caught another TD pass.  Maye is distributing the ball so much though.  Boutte’s ceiling is limited even though he is the snap count leader among Patriot WRs.
  • Darius Slayton: his hamstring injury hasn’t moved him to the IR.  The Giants aren’t getting any produciton from their outside receiers.  I think Slayton can change that when he’s healthy.
  • Chimere Dike – nice game for the rookie.  He looks talented, but he’s splitting a lot of reps with Tyler Lockett.
  • Brandon Aiyuk: we are getting closer to his return.

Tight Ends

  • Oronde Gadsden – he has definitely won the starting job for the Chargers.  He had a great game once again in week 7.  Don’t expect the same produciton every week, but he should acquire plenty of targets.
  • Mason Taylor – well the Jets are bad and will be passing a lot.  Frankly, if they switch to Tyrod Taylor at QB, the passing attack shoudl improve.
  • Theo Johnson: tight ends are playing very well with Dart throwing passes.
  • Cade Otton – Otton may be the second-most targeted Buc until Godwin is completely healthy.
  • Taysom Hill – this is completely speculative, but with Kendre Miller out and no proven 1st and 2nd down back behind Alvin Kamara, I think Hill is in line for more carries.
  • AJ Barner – Arroyo is nipping at his heals for the true Seahawks starting position

Defenses (DST)

  • Atlanta Falcons (vs Miami)
  • Cleveland Browns (vs New England)
  • Indianapolis Colts (vs Tennessee)
