Waiver Wire Targets for Week 9 (2025 Fantasy Football)

Waiver Wire Strategy for Week 9

Just a reminder that I don’t include anyone on this list that is owned in more than 60% of fantasy leagues.  If someone decides to waive a great player and they aren’t on this list, snap them up.

Top 5 Waiver Wire Targets – Week 9

Here are my Top fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 9

  1. TE, Orande Gadsden III
  1. WR, Chimere Dike
  1. RB, TyJae Spears
  1. RB, Kyle Monangai
  1. WR, Kayshon Boutte

Waiver Wire Pickups by Position

Quarterbacks

  • Brock Purdy – he’ll return from his injury in the coming weeks and is surprisingly available.
  • Sam Darnold – I don’t know why he’s only owned in 21% of leagues out there.
  • Joe Flacco – his receivers are so good.  I think he’ll score well more often than not.
  • Trevor Lawrence – he’s not going to win you any games, but he won’t lose many for you either.
  • Justin Fields – he played great this week, but is on a bye week in week 9.

Running Backs

  • Tyrone Tracy – Tracy is back to starting after the Skattebo injury.
  • Kyle Monangai: The Bears were due for a poor offensie showing.  Monangai’s snap count percentage is looking good.  He should continue to improve this year.
  • Tyjae Spears – his snap count percentage increased this past week.  I think he’s better than Pollard and I don’t think this interim coaching staff is going to continue playing unheralded vets.
  • Bam Knight – He’s running ok, but remember that Benson will be back before long.
  • Isaiah Davis– he played extremely well this past week.  I think he’s earned more time on the field.
  • Devin Neal – I was expecting more from him this week, but now we have a baseline to watch.  He was on the field for 46% of the snaps.  Maybe he’ll get more touches next week.

Wide Receivers

  • Chimere Dike – not only does he have sub 4.4 speed, but he looks bigger and tougher on the field than I thought he would.  The Titans evidently thought enough of him to waive Lockett this week.  Ridley’s eventual return could cloud target share, but Dike looks like an emergent WR to me.  His snap percentage jumped from 57% i week 7 to 89% in week 8.  Grab him while you still can.
  • Kayshon Boutte – he’s not very consistent in terms of production, but Maye loves throwing to him in the end zone.
  • Christian Watson – I’ve always been high on Christian Watson, but the Packers don’t consistently use him.  He looked great in his return and his skill set makes him a very interesting waiver candidate this week.
  • Tory Horton: he could be in line for a post-bye breakout so I’m moving him up my priority list this week.
  • Darius Slayton: he had some chances, but didn’t pull down key passes last week.  I’ve said this about him before.  But eventually things will start to click.
  • Romeo Doubs: Consistent as always.
  • Tez Johnson – Eventually, Chris Godwin will cut into Johnson’s playing time.  But he looked solid in his week 8 start.
  • Jaylin Noel  – he’s ok.  Not great, but good.
  • Malik Washington – it looks like he’ll benefit from Waller’s absence.  He had a nice week 8.

Tight Ends

  • Oronde Gadsden – I can’t believe he’s still available.  Grab him!
  • Mason Taylor – he’s an excellent young TE and will continue to develop
  • AJ Barner – Watch out for Arroyo eating into his snaps, but it still looks like Barner is ahead.
  • Theo Johnson – Bellinger is playing just a bit too much for Johnson to break out.
  • Taysom Hill – he had more carries than Neal this week (though I think it was 1 to 0).

Defenses (DST)

  • LA Rams (vs Saints)
  • Jaguars (vs Raiders)
  • Lions (vs Vikings)
