Waiver Wire Pickups by Position
Quarterbacks
- Sam Darnold: He’s shredding opposiing defenses. With Horton improving by the week and the Seahawks trading for Rashid Shaheed, the Seahawks are full of good skill players.
- Brock Purdy: he’ll be available any time now.
- Joe Flacco: He has Chase and Higgins to throw to. He’ll score plenty.
- Trevor Lawrence: Lawrence is using his legs more, especially on the goal line.
- Justin Fields: He’s a bit Jeckyl and Hyde to me, but he had a great game before the bye.
- Marcus Mariota: Jayden Daniels will be out for a month or two. By then, I don’t know why Washington would let Daniels play. Their season will be over by the time he comes back.
- J.J. McCarthy: He’s not my favorite, but he has scored well in the limited games he’s played.
Running Backs
- Tyjae Spears: He’s the better running back in Tennessee in my opinion. Maybe after the bye week, he’ll be the top back.
- Emari Demercado: he played well on MNF. he coudl have a role after Benson returns. Despite dropping the ball on the goal line, Demercado is an exceptional runner with the ball in his hands.
- Isaiah Davis:Keep an eye on when Braelon Allen will be back, but Davis had a great game before the bye and I think he’ll maintain a decent role in the offense.
- Devin Neal:His touches improved this past week, but he still needs more to justify a roster spot.
- Jaret Patterson: He should only be worthwhile until Hampton returns to the lineup.
- Dylan Sampson: He’s a very good back, but Cleveland hasn’t been giving him touches. Yes, Judkins has a shoulder injury. But I wonder if Sampson will have overtaken Ford as the 2nd back during the bye.
Wide Receivers
- Chimere Dike: Dike had a putn return TD and almost had a rushing TD before teammate Tony Pollard ran into him (and for some reason stirpped him up the football). Dike’s target total went down, but he is still the only Titan WR I think “looks” like he’s a difference maker. I like to bet on talent and speed and that is exaclty what Dike offers.
- Parker Washington: with Hunter on IR, Washington had a great week 9. Keep an eye on the WR rotation, though. Jakobi Meyers was just traded to Jax.
- Tory Horton: I’m not the least bit surprised Horton had a great game in week 9. Cooper Kupp was injured and Horton took advantage. I am a bit concerned that the addition of Shaheed (in a system he’s familiar with) will push Horton back down the depth chart. Frankly, Horton shoudl be starting over Kupp, but that may take a season or two to shake out the way it should.
- Christian Watson: He’s in a tough offensive system for any WR to produce. If he had as many targets as Romeo Doubs, for example, he’d have WR1 potential. Instead, he’ll put up a lot of 3 receptions for 75 yard type weeks for the Packers.
- Jack Bech: The Raiders traded a key outside receiver. Bech shoudl now step into that role.
- Kayshon Boutte: Like Watson, he’s not drawing consistent targets in New England. That makes him a good, but not great fantasy WR.
- Darius Slayton: he’s starting to draw more targets from the Giants. I’m liking his usage trends.
- Romeo Doubs: as I said, he’s the one Packer you can count on to gather targets. Unfortunately, he’s also the least explosive WR on their roster.
- Tez Johnson: I’ll be excited to see what Johnson can do after the bye.
- Malik Washington: The Dolphins will continue throwing 5-7 passes in Washington’s direciton each week.
Tight Ends
- Luke Musgrave: He was actually drafted ahead of starter Tucker Kraft, but was injured in his rookie season. Kraft never let go of the job. This will be Musgrave’s chance to fulfill his potential. He’s in a good offense for tight ends. I think he can make a difference.
- Mason Taylor: He’s gathering targets, but they haven’t resulted in a lot of fantasy points yet. Now that the Gadsden waiver cycle is done (if you didn’t get him, then you wont’ at this point), Taylor is the best young TE left.
- Greg Dulcich: He’s doing well in Miami while Waller is injured.
- AJ Barner: I’d like him more if he didn’t have rookie Elijah Arroyo breathing down his neck.
- Theo Johnson: I don’t think he’s great, but he has a lot of room to grow in an offense that will be forced to pass the ball often.
- Taysom Hill: If Neal doesn’t pan out as a runner in New Orleans, Hill could see 10 or so carries per game by the end of the season. He won’t have many receptions, but he will make up for it with red zone rushing opportunities.
Defenses (DST)
- Houston (vs Jacksonville)
- Cleveland (vs NY Jets)
